SCALE MODELING BOOKS

These books are the most comprehensive and definitive series on scale  modeling ever produced.  In clear, concise text, enhanced by  hundreds of outstanding close up photographs, these books document my techniques, secrets and methods for building scale models. There are no drawings or diagrams in any of these books. Since scale modeling is a visual hobby every technique presented is illustrated with pictures. These books have been described by scale modelers the world over as the fundamental reference material to have at your finger tips whether you are a beginner or an expert. Join the army of scale modelers from around the world who have already discovered how to build better
models by building them the
Mike Ashey way!

Some of the books on this WEB site were originally published as soft cover paper books, but they are now long out of print. I have scanned, digitized and assembled them into electronic book media and each chapter has been assembled into an Adobe PDF file.  You can view the chapters on line, download them and print a page, a chapter or an entire book.  In each of the paper books there is a gap in the numbering sequence.  The pages that are missing are those that were color photos of finished scale models. Many of these finished models were photographed again with a digital camera and you can find many of these finished models in the gallery section of the web site.

MIKE ASHEY'S
BRAND NEW AIRCRAFT BOOK
BUILDING AND DETAILING SCALE MODEL AIRCRAFT

Mike Ashey's 3rd  book on building and detailing scale model aircraft is the first of its kind.  It is an all digital book specifically organized and formatted for computer reading. This book contains over 500 color photos in seven chapters
which document in step by step sequence,  techniques that will make you a better scale modeler.

Digital books are not constrained by the number of pages, limits on the number of pictures, whether pictures can be color or black and white or the limitations of a publishers profit and loss analysis. Digital books give the author complete control and freedom to assembly the book with as much information as needed and include as many color pictures as the
author wants to incorporate into the book.

This electronic book format is designed to incorporate future topic supplements as new techniques are developed, and new types of kits, detail sets and materials emerge from the hobby industry.

This  book is  designed to view chapters on line while sitting at your work bench or you can  download selected chapters or the entire book for  printing so that you can use it as you would with any book.  I recommend that you print the chapters and keep them in a three ring binder for reference.

This book covers recommended tools and equipment, construction techniques, building and detailing cockpits, detailing engines and landing gear, rigging Bi-planes, painting techniques, weathering and decaling.
